Synopsis

After the mysterious murder of her father, Lisa turns her back on the lessons and values she has grown up with. After a heated exchange with her mother, Lisa decides to leave home and move away with her manipulative boyfriend, Dez. Tommy, her recent ex-boyfriend with whom she dumped for Dez, isn’t willing to let her go without a fight. Unbeknown to them all, Dez has a price on his head by the leader of a murderous gang who is in route to settle a score. The forces of evil are hard at work to destroy Lisa yet her only salvation rests in the ONE she turned her back on.


CHARACTER PROFILES

Lisa- (Lisa Brown, Af-Am,17 yrs of age) - a well mannered, outgoing young lady. The oldest of two children and raised in a Christian household. Lisa was never exposed to much of the streets. Her parents kept her sheltered for most of her life. She has always had a desire to venture into the fast life but was too afraid. Lisa has a big heart but she can be naïve, gullible and stubborn at times which leads her to act out. (FILLED)

DEZ- (Af-Am. Lisa's new boyfriend, late 20's) A hard-core, street-smart thug. His parents were murdered when he was 12. Raised in several foster homes he never had any real guidance. As a result he often got into trouble with the law. Dez ran away from his foster home when he was 13 and began selling drugs. Spending much of his time in and out of jail, he has no respect for authority. Hardened by his experiences and disturbed by his mental state, he doesn't care about anyone or anything-not even himself. He believes the only true god is money. He is very manipulative and persuasive; he'll do and say anything to get his way. (FILLED)

Brenda - (Sis. Brown, Lisa's mother, Af-Am, early-mid 40's) The sweetest woman you'll ever meet but very tough and experienced. Brenda grew up in the projects; she is the younger of her two brothers, and she has one younger sister. She came to the Lord after her oldest son was killed by a stray bullet three years prior. She's made it her mission to make sure their children serve the Lord and have a better life. (FILLED)

Yolanda - (Sis. Brown's younger sister, Af-Am, early 40's) Always a helping hand to the family, she and Brenda are very close. Yolanda is often the voice of reason and calm, especially when Lisa won't listen to her parents. (FILLED)

Tommy - (Lisa's ex-boyfriend,  19-20 yrs of age, any ethnicity) Lisa's first boyfriend and a member of the church. Tommy is an aspiring singer/song writer. He always believed that he and Lisa would get married some day, that is until she dumped him for Dez. (FILLED)

C. J. - (Carlton Joshua Brown. Lisa's younger brother.Af-Am, 11-13 yrs of age) C.J. is smart and witty. He loves his big sister. He sings in the choir, he is very confident and strong-minded. He also acts as Lisa's conscious when she does something wrong. (FILLED)

Gwen - (Friend of the Brown family, early-mid 20's, any ethnicity) Gwen is the choir leader at the church. Gwen lived a rough and sordid life until God saved her. She and Lisa were close at one time until Lisa’s attitude began to change. (FILLED)

Hit Man - (any ethnicity-walk on) from the Murder-1 Dawgz gang.

"T A I N T E D"

Synopsis

Tainted is based in part on the real life events of Rahab, a prostitute in the Old Testament that played a major role in the conquest of Jericho. This one-act stage play is a modern-day translation of this infamous story. In this snapshot, Rahab is challenged with making some difficult choices that will impact her life forever.

CHARACTERS

Rahab Moore – is an African-American female in her early 30s.  She is a madame and mother of a three children.  She is sassy and sexy, but serious about handling her business.  She has a sense of humor as well. (FILLED)

Agent Jones/Rev. Reynolds – is an African-American male in his 30s or 40s.  We’re looking for 1 actor to fill both roles. Agent Jones is easygoing, but serious about his job.  Rev. Reynolds is the local pastor recruited to convince Rahab to help the DEA capture a drug dealer.  Rev. Reynolds doesn’t really know how to approach/handle Rahab because he is secretly attracted to her. (FILLED)

Big Tone – is an African-American male in his 30s.  He is the local drug dealer and gang member.  He has a reputation for being tough, even though he’s vertically challenged.  He likes the finer things in life and has a hip-hop swagga'. (FILLED)

Deacon Harper – is an African-American male in his 60/70s.  He attends the local church and provides much of the comic relief in the production.  He also provides sound wisdom.  He has southern roots and should have a bit of an accent. (FILLED)

Sister Haddi – (FILLED)

Sister Mobley – is an African-American woman in her 20s. She is the daughter of Deacon Harper, recently returned to Vegas, married, in love and naive. (FILLED) 

s Yexsenia’s 16-year old son.  He is a typical teenager, with interests in music, girls, and clothes.  He’s a good kid with a good head on his shoulders, but he is attracted to the fast cars and money that he sees coming Big Tone’s way.  He’s headed for college, but may be destined for destruction if he makes the wrong choices. Woman 1 & 2 – are typical gossips in the church. (FILLED)

"SWEET JUSTICE"

Synopsis

Since her boyfriend, Mitch, went to jail for the murder of her a good friend, Gwyneth turned to her diary to voice her thoughts, frustrations and fantasies with her life. Racked with the guilt that Mitch is getting out early, Gwyneth is doubtful she wants to be with him any more. 
Yet the security Mitch has offered despite the verbal and physical abuse she endured with him, makes Gwyneth reluctantly settle on being his wife when he is released. When her diary is lost a week before Mitch is to be released and the finder knows who she is, Gwyneth pushes away her fear of Mitch and gives in to her fantasies with a stranger.


Characters

Gwenyth - BF 24yrs old, docile, not used to making decisions on her own. Has lived a sheltered life since 14yrs of age. (FILLED)
